Susan Strachan Johnson

Artist's Statement

My work is informed by nature and the landscape around my home, and it often involves the human figure. I work with distressed fibres, paper-and-textile combinations, recycled materials and found objects, and I paint and dye my own materials. I am currently working on a series about our changing environment, working on distressed canvas, which is then repaired, collaged, painted and stitched.
